Palpation

According to Dutton@duttonDuttonOrthopaedicExamination2020, the subtrochanteric bursa cannot be palpated.

Abduction ISO Test

The subtrochanteric bursa can be tested by positioning the patient in hyperadduction and performing an isometric abduction contraction¹.

This maximally compresses the subtrochanteric bursa and will provoke symptoms if subtrochanteric bursitis is present¹
